Food & Restaurant
Latinos have a rich and flavorful cuisine which should not be lost just because we live in the U.S. Fortunately there are several good sources of Latino food products in the Philly area. We have also found many supermarkets are open to carrying specific products if you ask them to – talk to the store, produce or deli manager depending on what product you want. Dishes or recipes that are part of your country’s heritage are something which should be enjoyed with friends and passed down to your children. Most of the area supermarkets carry the typical Goya/Mexican line of products but several have additional products catering to Hispanics of other countries-of-origin and fresh items.
If you’re looking for crema de leche, it can be found as ‘Table Cream’ in the canned milk section of many supermarkets.
A good substitution for ‘Papa Criolla’ (a popular South American small yellow potato) is the baby yellow or gold potatoes now sold in small net bags in many produce departments.

Some on-line food products ’stores’ that seem to have some harder to find products include:
www.tienda.com (mostly food items from Spain)
www.amigofoods.com (great selection from many countries)
If anyone has gotten products from any of these, please let us know by posting something — if they’re good or if you had a bad experience.
