Afrotaino Productions is proud to co-sponsor this event, especially given Taller Puertorriqueno’s work within the Latino community of North Philadelphia. There are two events as part of his Philadelphia visit.

We’ll be with Junot Diaz with our companeros @ Taller Puertorriqueno, and then we head to a very special event, APM’s 33rd Annual Gift Of Love Children’s Christmas Benefit. The annual event benefits more than 2,000 needy children, and is always a major way to launch into the season of giving. Our very own DJ Rahsaan will keep us moving and grooving, while you prepare for the mind-blowing Boricua roots music of NYC’s Tato Torres & Yerbabuena. $100/ticket, Dinner, Open Bar, Entertainment all included! Doors open @ 6pm. Penn’s Landing Caterers, 1301 S. Columbus Blvd. For tix & info: 267.296.7346 or visit www.apmphila.org
11.15.08 – For the past few weeks, we’ve been hinting along the way that we’ve been grinding hard to relocate our infamous international-themed party, Passport Saturdays, and that we’d have a new home soon. Well, that day has arrived. We thank you all so much for being patient (and impatient) with our search for a new home, and we are proud to announce the re-launch of Passport Saturdays on Saturday, November 15th, and getting it on EACH and EVERY SATURDAY NIGHT. Our new home, SOLO Nightclub (formerly known as Egypt, Spring Garden & Columbus Blvd.) is stocked with a top notch professional JBL sound system, huge bar, bottle service areas, a huge dancefloor…and this is just the VIP room!! TO GET INTO THE VIP ROOM (where we are partying, siempre) YOU MUST BE ON THE GUESTLIST! NO EXCEPTIONS!! You can do that by RSVP’ing your name & email, contact: passportsats@gmail.com. It’s gonna be crazy…DJ Rahsaan with the best & freshest reggaeton, latin, dancehall, bhangra, international hiphop, & everything else heard at customs! (If you have any doubt how we get down with Passport Saturdays, check out the pics of the party from earlier this year at myspace.com/afrotainoproductions, click on the photo album “Passport Saturdays” or “This is how we did it”)
Hosted by Maggie. $2 beers, $4 cocktails and $75 Moet bottles before Midnight!

PHILLY’S ONLY WEEKLY INTERNATIONAL CLUB NIGHT IS BACK!! SPREAD THE WORD…
11.19.08 – Our monthly party dedicated to 21st Century Latin Music, called DISCOTECA, launched last month with a very special visit from Bogota/Brooklyn’s own Monareta, as they hit Philly to throw down a crazy techno-cumbia laptop set. This month’s edition comes to you courtesy of another Nacional Records/Afrotaino Productions collaboration, with a special record release & listening party for 2 unique album releases that highlight Latin Music’s funkiest elements. Eric Bobo (Cypress Hill percussionist, son of late jazzfunk pioneer Willie Bobo of “Spanish Grease” fame) releases his debut LP, “M.O.T.M. (Meeting of the Minds)”, and Senor Coconut releases his latest LP, “Around the World”. Both albums are so freaking genius, it’s not even funny. Eric Bobo pulls out all the stops with a variety of collabos from B-Real, Sick Jacken, Tony Touch, Hurricane G, to name a few. Sr. Coconut draws on the finest cha-cha-cha elements to reconstruct and deconstruct popular songs like Prince’s “Kiss”, Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams (are made of this)”, and the disco-house anthem by Daft Punk, “Around the World”, is tweaked and freaked into a caliente booty-shaking rumba that will burn a hole in any ballroom dancefloor. Special giveaways & promos & free I-Tunes downloads & cheap drinks & one of Philly’s best soundsystems…what more can you ask for?
$5 admission/Ladies FREE before 11pm. Doors open @ 10PM.
Afrotaino Productions’ DJ Rahsaan & friends in the mix…

11.21.08 – And last but definitely not least, the return of Dutty Chutney! If you’re not familiar with this party, it was held @ L’etage as a monthly earlier this year, and quickly became everyone’s favorite Bhangra Reggae Soundclash. They have found a NEW home @ Fluid Nightclub, starting Friday 11/21 and poppin’ off every 3rd Friday of the Month. DJs Mandip, M-Ski, Rahsaan, & Aseem spin the gulliest dancehall, bhangra, & bollywood beats and more…$5 all night long. 21 and up/ID Required. Get there early ’cause it’s guaranteed to fill up fast! Real Talk!! (DJs Mandip & Rahsaan teased the bhangra massive last month for the Ravi & Anoushka Shankar post-show party @ the Kimmel Center with lots of dubby dhol beats – see the pics @ myspace.com/afrotainoproductions; Also check out myspace.com/duttychutney)
