If you have never gotten the chance to witness Tony Rocco’s work, now is the chance. Starting May 15th through June 2nd, Rocco’s exhibit Mi Comunidad will be presented at Higher Grounds Coffee Shop.
Mi Comunidad is an exhibition of photographs by students from Julia DeBurgos Elementary School’s Beacon Program and Taller Puertorriqueno’s Youth Artist Program(YAP) in North Philadelphia. Also included are photographs from Cali, Colombia taken by Grupo Aguacero. All these images show inner city youth exploring the community theylive in, providing a visual commentary on how they view their world.

Hola Amigos de miPhillyLatino. Tremendo sitio y que alegria saber que hay alguien trabajando para unir a los latinos y la cultura latina en Philadelphia.
En fin, queria dejarles saber que hay un programa de musica de rock, reggae, ska y a veces hasta hip-hop internacional donde el 70% de la musica viene de latinoamerica o España. Se llama YROCK Internacional y lo pueden escuchar solamente por el Internet, todos los Sabados de 5 a 7pm. La direccion de enlace es http://www.yrockonxpn.org.
Una vez alli, hagan click donde dice “LISTEN” en la parte superior a la derecha y despues veran una ventana nueva donde podran escojer su reproductor de musica de la computadora. Escoja el Windows Media Player a la velocidad que desee y deje que la maquina haga lo demas.
El programa es una muestra de lo que se esta escuchando en otras regiones del mundo incluyendo a latinoamerica, Mexico y España. Espero que les guste y nuevamente felicitaciones por este gran proyecto. Gracias por su atencion y nos encontraremos en linea.

There is no doubt in my mind that there is a strong Latino presence in Philadelphia. So what can these Latino families do? There’s so much to do but the access is limited. Why not take a trip to Center City and visit the Liberty Bell, why not go see an art exhibit at the Art Museum, why not visit Taller Puertorriqueño in El Centro de Oro?
Think about it, Latinos want to do the same things as caucasians, African-Americans, Asians, etc. do. Just because it’s not in Spanish, does not mean Latino’s can’t enjoy the beauty of a musuem or statue.

El Pathmark en Broomall, PA (cerca de 476 y Rt. 3) tiene bastante productos alimenticios latinos. La mayoria son mexicano o de Goya, pero hay un poco de todo. En la seccion congelada tiene yuca congela en bolsa grande.
